Finally on the Upswing

Feeling like I’m finally on the upswing after being hit hard by a cold or flu bug. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve been completely knocked out of action. 😷

Unfortunately I was also supposed to be at @kripalucenter for a writing retreat led by @daniwriter this weekend. But at least that meant I had everything cleared off my plate in anticipation of being gone. Silver linings, right?

It also meant that Jason had come up to house sit for me and instead was able to help out during the worst of it. He really took one for his mom as he caught what I have and is back home recuperating himself.

If you are looking for a great book to get caught up in, I can’t say enough about The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Hits all my sweet spots: historical fiction, books and love of reading figure prominently, engaging characters and gorgeous storytelling.

I actually watched the movie first and loved it. Immediately decided I needed to listen to the audiobook only to find that the movie had truly pulled out just a few threads from the book. Everyone got to the same place but in very different ways. I much preferred the book’s depth but feel that I can appreciate both on their own merits.

Nothing like being given the opportunity to work on accepting “what is” when you would definitely prefer it to be otherwise.
