And I'm Back (I Think!)
Wow! Has it really been this long? Hopefully some of you are still out there…seems that real life kind of snuck up on me and clobbered me for a little while, but things are settling back down. This quote seems to sum it up pretty well:
“I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.”

Things have been very busy (obviously!) The 2009 VaHomeschoolers Conference was a week ago and it was so much fun! I loved getting to meet online friends and hang out with friends that I do not see often (such as Cindy!) I presented 4 sessions (3 “beginning homeschool” related and a new one on encouraging reading in “late” readers) and had a blast talking, sharing, listening and of course, shopping.
Author Kathleen Melin was very inspiring…I loved her book, By Heart: A Mother’s Story of Children and Learning at Home. I actually have not read a “homeschool book” in many years now (after devouring them when I first started out) but was glad that I checked this one out. It is not your typical homeschool book. It is more of a memoir that details their journey while also weaving in information about homeschooling. I hope to get a some time to review it in more detail (of course I had hoped to have time to do this before the conference, but best laid plans…) In the meantime, here is a review by the VaHomeschoolers Voice editor, Jeanne Faulconer.
There is lots of exciting news as a lot has happened in the past month. But I will save those stories for later posts. Right now, I will just say that it is good to be back and I have lots of potential posts chomping at the bit, just waiting to be written. Here’s hoping that life stays calm for a little while as I get back in the swing of things (I can hope, right?)
